I'm intrigued about the "crisis" and the "tyranny". What was the original forum and why did it split? Or am I being too nosy?

And is it me, or did that used to say "Go forth, lemmings"?

The old forums split and two forums ran side by side for a while until Emerson & I got organized and sorted out a few problems that led to CoS becoming MuggleNet's official forums. That whole thing lasted about 2/3 months.

MuggleNet Forums was the original, more apt name. That died a death and instead of rebuilding the site, CoS was asked to replace it as MuggleNet's official forums.

Hello, all. Reading this thread brings back so many memories and depressingly reminds me of how much time has passed. I was a member at the original Mugglenet Forums many years ago when I was only 15. I am now 23.

As to the great big battle, during that time I lived up to my unique title: the poltergeist! I think I was on both sides of the great disagreement!

Morgoth, it has been awhile, but do you remember me? My username was Jason. It is insane how large this forum has grown, and how big Mugglenet is now. Congratulations on such great success! You and the other administrators earned it!

The date when a member's stars change is calculated from the join date per the member list. Morgoth's join date has been considered the official birthday of the forums.

I guess my question is: If his join date is February, shouldn't he have 8 stars instead of 7? Or are his stars calculated from July, when CoS went live?
