Probably, my spanish is very good, but not my english, so i hope you will be able to forgive me I will try to help people who has problems with his spanish.

I think it is harder for english-speakings to learn spanish than viceversa. Spanish has lots of verbal forms, speciffically, spanish has imperative, subjunctive and indicative moods, and then it has no personal forms (gerunds, infinitive and participle, which exists in english too).

Into indicative mood, it has 5 simple moods (present (Yo canto), imperfect preterit (Yo canté), simple perfect preterit (Yo cantaba), simple future (Yo cantaré) and simple conditional (Yo cantar*a)) and 5 compound moods (perfect preterit (Yo he cantado), pluperfect preterit (Yo hab*a cantado), previous preterit (Yo hube cantado), perfect future (Yo habré cantado) and perfect conditional (Yo habr*a cantado)).

Into subjunctive mood, it has 3 simple moods (present (Yo cante), imperfect preterit (Yo cantara o cantase) and simple future (Yo cantare)) and 3 compounds moods (perfect preterit (Yo haya cantado), pluperfect preterit (Yo hubiera o hubiese cantado) and perfect future (Yo hubiere cantado).

Actually, there is some moods that are not used nowaday, for example, previous preterit and simple and perfect future of subjunctive mood, and lots of people mistake perfect conditional for pluperfect preterit of subjunctive mood.

By the way, this is my first post in the forum

En el otono yo comenzo Espanol AP. Espereme bueno suerte, por favor!
¿Oda a la alcachofa? I've never read it!

I think my favourites spanish poems are:

¿Qué es poes*a? Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

¿Qué es poes*a? --dices mientras clavas
en mi pupila tu pupila azul.
¿Qué es poes*a? ¿Y tú me lo preguntas?
Poes*a... eres tú.

It is impossible to express more feelings in less words.

And, the other is:

Caminante no hay camino Antonio Machado

Caminante son tus huellas
El camino nada más;
caminante no hay camino
se hace camino al andar.
Al andar se hace camino
y al volver la vista atrás
se ve la senda que nunca
se ha de volver a pisar.
Caminante, no hay camino
sino estelas sobre el mar.
¿Para que llamar caminos
A los surcos del azar...?
Todo el que camina anda,
Como Jesús sobre el mar.

Yo amo a Jesús que nos dijo:
Cielo y tierra pasarán
Cuando cielo y tierra pasen
mi palabra quedará.
¿Cuál fue Jesús tu palabra?
¿Amor?, ¿perdón?, ¿caridad?
Todas tus palabras fueron
una palabra: Velad.
Como no sabéis la hora
En que os han de despertar,
Os despertarán dormidos
si no veláis; despertad.

It is exciting, it means that a person makes his own way while he "walk" in the life, and when he looks behind, he can see the path that he will never walk again.

A curiosity, these two poets was from my city, Seville

Hola! I think I just made that word up ).

Subjunctive could be hard at the beggining, but it is easier if you add the word "ojalá" (i wish/hope) before conjugating a verb. For example:

Subjunctive present:

Yo cante --> Ojalá yo cante (mañana) --> I wish/hope to sing (tomorrow)

Actually, that last sentece is grammatically correct, but if you want to say "pocos" (few), don't write "unos", because "unos pocos", depending on the context, it could mean "quite".

I have to say that i live southern spanish, Andalusia, and we have a lot of sentences, words, etc. which are not used in other parts of spain or other spanish-speaking countries. For example, to say "many" (muchos) we use the phrase "un viaje" (That means "a trip" in english), for example:

I have many friends --> Tengo un viaje de amigos (I have a trip of friends )

Re: Spanish

Hello, I'm back! I'm wondering if a native Spanish speaker could correct this for me? (DISCLAIMER: I was just writing what I could write, I don't really have an opinion on the issue)

I suppose what's difficult for me is knowing when to use it. I went more than ten years speaking and writing in the indicative, and then suddenly everything is in the subjunctive. Made no sense to me.

doepatr0nus: Your writing is excellent. The only mistake I see in your paragraph is that "gente" in Spanish is feminine, so it should say "Es más importante que toda la gente esté educada sobre la pol*tica". Apart of that, it's perfect.
