I don't like where this is going. I agree with lupislune. Emerson was expanding his empire the past years so rapidly, which makes me wonder if it really isn't about money. But let's wait and see. When CoS changes to the worse, then I don't want to be part of it.

I'd like to thank everybody that made this site possible. Being from Belgium, English isn't my first language and I'm way better at reading it than I am at writing, so I've never really participated in the many interesting and enjoyable discussions on this site. I thoroughly enjoyed reading a lot of them though. I'm also a big fan of good HP Fanfiction and CoS gave me the opportunity to read so many brilliantly written ones.

Therefore (and for many other reasons) A big thank you to Morgoth and all the mods that gave me a second home, especially for the times when my real home wasn't really there for me. I always had this place to come back to and give me comfort.

Yea it seems as if he's expanding really fast. I'm waiting and seeing as well. But if it goes it goes south, I don't want to be a part of it either.

Quite honestly I'd rather spit in Emerson's face than be a part of his Umbridge inspired takeover shenanigans in trying to reincarnate/revive COS. Where was Mugglenet 6 months ago? Where were they a year ago? Two years ago? 10 years ago? Fact is the Harry Potter fandom has moved on. COS was a great community where many of us made many great friendships, had many great times, and spent years building that community. To have someone come in at the last second and try to string it along when they played no active role in it, quite honestly is insulting, cheap, and a clear demonstration that the have no idea what COS was or had become over the many years. Emerson and his cronies aren't interested in saving the community, they are only interested in the profit it may bring them if they take it over.

Think I'm wrong? just look at what a deluded mess Mugglenet has become over the years.

I am exceptionally offended and angry by Emerson's shenanigans carelessly stomping on my opportunity to grieve with and for a community that I loved being a member.

Trying to shock a dead horse back into life doesn't work. It only emits a terrible odor.

That's what makes these forums.

While I'm sure that we all understand that changes will occur, it's the people here that make this all worthwhile.

Now we all know that as time passed we all kinda wandered...but we never thought this site would up and go away. Until these past months...and then these last few days that had a whole lot of people saying goodbye to the internet home they thought that they'd always have. And this website suddenly saw more traffic in these days than it has in the past 6 months.
I guess it's not easy. There was a good deal of work done on this site. (For kicks I change the skin every month or so) No one wants to let go. Many grew up with the books...and then many grew up with the movies. And this website became a part of all that.

I wrote a longer post on Friday saying goodbye, then looked up and saw the new announcement. *sigh*

I think I speak for all the Snape fans when I say thanks for not banning us over Snape/Lily years ago. The mods got to ban us routinely for so many other things anyway.

Now I'll just say I hope whatever works out here works out well, and hope to see you around Fandom somewhere in the future.

Due to recent developments, the closure of CoS is no longer happening. In the last few days we've done some tidying up of the forums to improve performance a little and undergo a deletion of threads no longer needed on the site. So if you notice your post count has dipped, then it's the work we did. I lost 2,000 posts, so it wasn't targeted at any one type of group or another.

There is no news to offer at this stage on any new management of the site. I'm still 'in charge' until otherwise stated. There's no further need for notices or comments as I've got nothing whatsoever to add. Carry on posting and we'll update you all with news when it comes.
