Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
I've noticed that there are some members who post images in their signatures which have backgrounds of the same colour as those of the different CoS layouts - even if we switch the styles, the backgrounds of the pictures change as well and become the same colour. I was wondering - how do you do that? Do you put in a specific forum code or something or you have to use some graphic program to set it up?

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Can you give an example? I guess it's most likely a transparent gif picture.

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
It never occured to me that there were transparent images.
![]() How do you set the transparent image then? Does it require a Photoshop or something (I have Adobe Photoshop but I rarely use it). |

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Yes, Bunny's avi and sig are animated gifs.
Do you have Image Ready? IMO you should have it.

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Nope I don't. Can you download it directly off the net? Also, is there a way to set up non-animated transparent pictures? Because I'm preeeetty sure I've seen a few of them around here.

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Yes, non-animated pictures work too. What picture do you want to put into your sig?

Actually I'm still kind of working on it. I wanted to know how to make it transparent (my tech skills aren't the greatest in the world
![]() ETA: I just realised that I do have ImageReady - it came along as part of the package. And I also just realised how to make the pic transparent. Thanks for all your help, Tenshi! ![]() Last edited by Snivelly; January 7th, 2007 at 5:16 pm. |

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Can I get a little more information?
What "sign" are you talking about? Is your siggy supposed to be animated? What is your siggy pic supposed to do/be?

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
Oh, can't you see it in my signature in the above post or this post because I can see it. It seems to work for my new posts, but not showing up in my other post. Its a regular picture of lion and a woman. Its not animated or anything. Just a plan picture.

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
I see the picture fine. Sometimes it takes a day for the pic to show up in all your posts. Or, it could just be that the pic will "update" for only the posts that have been made since the time you put the pic in your siggy.
I'm not sure about this, but it's what I've noticed around the forum.

Re: Tutorial: Signature Help
I might point out from my experiences that clearing your cache usually solves the problem of images not showing up correctly - your computer often forgets to update (for whatever reason) and so the image doesn't appear but it's actually there. One of those weird technological phenomena.
I have a question, as well, although it more closely relates to policy. Is it acceptable to have a random signature? That is, if I set up a script to create a random image (from a list I have) every time the page is called, can I use it as my signature image? Obviously the normal rules on size would apply, but I'm wondering if that's within the scope of policy because I haven't seen it done yet and it struck me as odd that nobody uses random sigs. Maybe I just haven't noticed.
