The LeakyCon Thread

Hey folks! So as most of you know, LeakyCon is an annual Harry Potter conference and has been ongoing for a few years now. Next year they will be in London (its first time in the UK) as well as in Portland.

So who all is going? I personally will be attending the London conference. (Sadly I'll probably the oldest person there!)


Also, I hope this thread is OK in this section. Since special guests from the movies always attend (most notably Evanna Lynch, aka Luna Lovegood), I figured it'd be appropriate here. Moreover, I noticed a thread in this section for Ascendio from a year or so back, so I think it should be alright here.

Just a staff note: We do not allow any talk of meet ups between members. Everyone who might post in this thread should be aware of this rule. So it's fine to tell us you are going but don't give any other info

Thanks. I wasn't planning any sorts of meetup info via this thread in any case. (If people want to do that, they're free to do so via owl, right?) I'm more keen to talk about the programming, what to expect and prepare for, etc. I've never even been to a con before, so I have lots to learn!

Ooh yes, I will be attending the Portland one and I'm very excited! I've never been to LeakyCon either, and I'd love to hear from others who have been before about what to expect.

I had wanted to attend LeakyConast year when it was here in Orlando. But what exactly is a Harry Potter conference?

I actually have no idea what to expect from it though I know they have panels and signing sessions with some of the actors, and the ones in America have popular fandom people attending, but my family keeps asking me what it is and all I can say is "eer, the actors go and it's fun" I think what's good about it is that it isn't just Harry Potter, they have meetups for other fandoms, and John & Hank Green have gone in the past, so even though it's described as being a Harry Potter convention, there's a lot more to it than that.
